Community Soccer Game to benefit YUWA Northwest

Community Soccer Game to benefit YUWA Northwest

After lots of planning, sign making and getting the word out to friends and neighbors, the Damsels completed their first action. The community soccer game fundraiser was inspired by the April meeting discussion about Billie Jean King from the book Rad American Women A – Z by Kate Schatz.

The girls wanted to find a way to help women/girls in sports. The weather cooperated and they baked, sold tickets to play and had a fantastic time raising more than $200 for YUWA Northwest.

The soccer field was filled the entire time with parents, friends and brand new friends. Some people played the entire two hours! It was a really fun way to raise money for a great local group who are a chapter of Yuwa India, focused on sparking youth led change through team sports (especially soccer).

Everyone left the field tired, full of sweets and really happy to be able to help other girls.
