This May, the Damsels learned about Parkland shooting survivor and activist Emma Gonzalez. They were inspired by her words and passion and decided to join the March For Our Lives Wear Orange Rally to increase visibility of the movement. You can read about the meeting here.
They gathered with their families before the march and listened to moving words from speakers including Manuel and Patricia Oliver (artivists and gun violence survivors from Parkland, FL.), and U.S Congresswomen Rep. Pramila Jayapal (WA-07) and Rep. Dr. Kim Schrier (WA-08), gun sense champions.
They wore lots of orange (and their new Damsels in Progress tees) and marched across the 1-90 bridge. After the march, they were able to spend time talking to a local high school March for Our Lives activist and she shared some great insights about organizing and working together.
